The old city center is located west from the railway station. I've went through the old town to the Michaelsberg, then to the Old Castle and back to railway station.
The Main-Danube channel is crossed first when coming from railway station. Together with Regnitz it forms an island, where the old city center is located.
Duck on Regnitz, near the stairs that lead to the water. Swimming is allowed in that particular place, but I haven't seen any swimmers here. There are many better places for swimming!
